Mermaid Parade - Coney Island

One of my first weekends here. Me, my new NY best friend Sandy and her two roommates headed out to Coney Island for the afternoon. The Mermaid Parade was taking place that day at Coney Island and my roommate and his band were playing in it...so we went to check it out!

We actually didn't watch too much of the parade, but instead just enjoyed riding the rides. This is the last summer Coney Island will be the same...and the last time the Cyclone will be running. So of course we had to ride it one last time...

Brass Band Blowout

So I've learned my apartment is fairly well known for their parties. Which makes sense...my roommate Scott is an events planner. So he knows how to throw good parties.

Anyways, this party was because Scott's old band from Madison Wisconsin came to town to play at the Mermaid Parade out in Coney Island. So we hosted the after party where they played a couple of sets for us! And I've got to tell you...they were AMAZING!

They are called "Mama Digdown's Brass Band" and are a New Orleans Brass Band! It was so much fun to have them play at the party! They have such a great sound!

The rest of my apt

I figured that since I've already shown you my room, I would update you on the rest of my apartment.

So far I LOVE living here! It is so perfect for me right now! There is just so much space, I can entertain and cook! And my new favorite thing about the apartment is the record collection and the record player! My roommate has a HUGE collection of records and there is honestly nothing better than to put on some jazz...sit back, read and drink some wine! =)

Here is my room a little more finished. I actually have pictures on the wall now! And one of the most important things I should point out...is the air conditioner. I couldn't live without that thing! ha..and funny story...when installing it. Me and my roommate almost dropped it out the window. Luckily outside my window is the fire escape. Yes--close call.

Ha...so you see those blinds? I have lost many wars against those! For some reason I can never get them to come down. I honestly don't know what is wrong wit h me! I think I've dropped them on the floor twice now trying to get them to come down! My roommates love to make fun of me for this. Yes--I just got my masters...but I don't know how to work the blinds...
